Asbestos Is A Mineral That Can Lead To Serious Health Problems

Asbestos
is a mineral composed of silicon, oxygen, hydrogen and other metal ions. Fibers of asbestos insulation very well because they are powerful, flexible and does not burn. The three most common varieties of asbestos fibers are chrysotile, amosite and crocidolite.

Since asbestos fibers are small, less than half the diameter of the hair must be attached to something. If asbestos fibers are mixed with other materials, producing what is called a material containing asbestos or ACM.

Many building products with asbestos, including gaskets, cement pipes, wall insulation, pipe insulation and ceiling panels. Additionally, ACM is used in the automotive industry, transport industry and NASA for the space shuttle insulation.

The main disadvantage of the use of ACM is the dust that is created from the manufacture, assembly, and a possible deterioration, the release of asbestos into the air. Since asbestos is a small component in powder form, it is easy to air and thus easily inhaled. And sadly, when inhaled, asbestos can cause serious health problems.

Even if the federal government imposed a moratorium on the production of most asbestos products in early 1970, installation of these products continued through late 1970 and into 1980.

Between 1940 and 1980, approximately 27 million American workers occupational exposure to asbestos can affect their health, "says U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Asbestos was widely banned in America, although some products containing asbestos and failed to block the sale of existing laws. Thus, there is a continuing risk of exposure.

From shipfitters, pipefitters and demolition workers, for those who suffer from the railways and in construction, Weitz & Luxenberg has many clients whose needless and entirely avoid exposure to asbestos ultimately led to the development of diseases related to asbestos.

Men and women diagnosed with lung cancer and mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure may be entitled to compensation from the companies responsible for their asbestos-related diseases.
